Content & Safety Policy
1. Our Commitment to Safety
Safety is foundational to Old Greg's Tavern — not an afterthought. We are committed to providing a creative, immersive, and secure environment for players to explore AI-driven interactive storytelling.
Old Greg's Tavern is for players aged 18 and over. We use automated and manual measures to enforce the standards described in this policy. This Content & Safety Policy applies to all user-generated content, including all text inputs, image inputs, and AI-generated outputs produced through our Service.
This policy supplements our Terms of Service. In the event of a conflict between this policy and the Terms of Service regarding content moderation and safety matters, this policy governs.
2. Age Requirement
Old Greg's Tavern is for players aged 18 and over. By using the Service, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age.
- Users must not misrepresent their age to access the Service
- We may ask for your date of birth at any point to confirm that you meet this requirement. It is used only to confirm eligibility
- Accounts determined to belong to individuals under 18 are immediately suspended. Accounts of holders aged 13–17 unlock automatically on the holder’s 18th birthday; accounts of holders under 13 are permanently terminated (see our Privacy Policy, Children’s Privacy)
- No content involving minors in sexual or exploitative contexts will be tolerated under any circumstances
- Providing a false date of birth is a violation of this policy and our Terms of Service
3. Content Standards
Old Greg's Tavern is an interactive storytelling game for players aged 18 and over. Its stories span every genre, and fictional worlds naturally explore dark, violent, and morally complex scenarios. Within those stories, content must remain appropriate: the categories in Sections 4 and 5 are prohibited.
Whether content falls within a prohibited category is determined by us in our sole discretion. The examples in this policy illustrate our standards and are not exhaustive; we have the right (but not the obligation) to decline, limit, redirect, or remove any request or output at any time and without notice, including content not listed here. Repeated attempts to obtain prohibited content are subject to enforcement under Section 7.
4. Prohibited Content
The following content is prohibited and will result in content removal and potential account action, up to and including permanent termination:
- Sexually explicit, obscene, or pornographic content, and any request or attempt to cause the Service to generate it
- Rape, incest, or any depiction of non-consensual sexual acts or sexual violence
- Content designed to harass, threaten, or dox real individuals
- Creating characters that depict identifiable real people without their verifiable consent (see our Terms of Service)
- Spam, scams, or commercial solicitation through gameplay
- Attempting to manipulate, circumvent, or “jailbreak” our AI content safety systems, or otherwise attempting to elicit content this policy prohibits, including through fictional framing, roleplay instructions, encoding, or repeated rephrasing. An attempt is a violation whether or not it succeeds
- Content that glorifies, encourages, or provides instructions for self-harm or suicide
- Content that seeks to extract real-world instructions for creating weapons, explosives, drugs, or other dangerous materials under the guise of in-game activity
- Sharing personal information of real people without their consent
- Content that violates any applicable law
5. Zero-Tolerance Violations
The following categories result in immediate, permanent account termination with no possibility of appeal. Content may be preserved as evidence for as long as necessary for safety and legal compliance. Where applicable, violations are reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and/or appropriate law enforcement authorities.
Immediate Permanent Ban — No Appeal
Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM)
Any depiction of minors in sexual situations, whether real, fictional, or AI-generated. There are no exceptions.
Bestiality
Sexual content involving animals.
Real-World Violence or Threats
Threats of harm against real people, instructions for real-world violence, or terrorism-related content.
Hate Speech Targeting Real-World Groups
Content promoting hatred or violence against people based on a protected characteristic.
5b. Self-Harm, Suicide, and Crisis Situations
Old Greg's Tavern is a fictional, interactive entertainment product. It is not a mental-health service, and nothing it generates, including the narrator, is a therapist, counselor, or crisis professional. We have implemented the following safety protocols to handle interactions that reference real-world self-harm or suicidal ideation:
- Automated detection. Messages you send to any AI surface are designed to be screened for direct and indirect expressions of real-world self-harm, suicidal ideation, or crisis before they reach the story model.
- Interception and crisis-card surface. When a message is flagged, the Service is designed to withhold the story response, break character, and surface a crisis resource card routed to the user’s region (such as 988 in the United States and Canada, Samaritans in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland, Lifeline in Australia, Lifeline Aotearoa in New Zealand, plus a global findahelpline.com link as a fallback for any other region).
- Logging. We record that an intervention occurred, without retaining the verbatim text of the message, for annual reporting under California SB 243 and to improve detection.
- Glorification prohibited. Content that glorifies, encourages, romanticizes, or provides instructions for self-harm or suicide is prohibited (see Section 4) and may result in account action.
- Limits. These systems are not infallible and operate on a best-effort basis. If you or someone you know is in crisis, please contact a qualified human professional or local emergency services. See our Safety Resources page for a list of crisis lines by region.
This Section is published in part to satisfy the safety-protocol publication requirements of applicable laws, including California SB 243 and New York General Business Law Article 47.
6. How We Detect Violations
We use automated and manual measures, including AI classifiers and human review, to identify content that violates this policy, in what you submit and in what the AI generates. Our models are designed with filters and limits to prevent prohibited outputs, and flagged content may be held, removed, or escalated, including to law enforcement where the law requires. No automated system is infallible, and we do not guarantee detection of every violation. If you encounter content you believe violates this policy, report it (see Section 9).
7. Enforcement Actions
Depending on the nature and severity of the violation, we may take one or more of the following actions:
- Warning — For first-time minor policy violations, a warning may be issued
- Content removal — Violating content is blocked or removed immediately upon detection
- Temporary suspension — For repeated violations of non-zero-tolerance policies
- Permanent ban — For zero-tolerance violations (Section 5), repeated violations, or any violation of this Content & Safety Policy or our Terms of Service that we determine warrants permanent removal. Permanent bans are lifetime bans
- Law enforcement referral — For content involving CSAM, real-world threats, or other illegal activity
Enforcement decisions are logged and retained for as long as necessary for safety and legal compliance.
Refunds after a ban: If your account is permanently banned for a zero-tolerance violation (Section 5) or for illegal conduct, you are not entitled to any refund of subscription fees, in-app purchases, or any other payments. For any other permanent ban, we will refund the unused remainder of your current subscription period on request; purchased credits are otherwise non-refundable as described in our Terms of Service.
8. Appeals Process
Users who believe their account was actioned in error may submit an appeal:
- Email [email protected] with the subject line “Content Policy Appeal”
- Include your account email address and a description of the situation
- We aim to review appeals within 5 business days
Important: Bans issued for zero-tolerance violations (Section 5) are not eligible for appeal. The Trust & Safety team’s decision on all appeals is final.
9. Reporting Concerns
Images of a real person shared without consent (including AI-generated depictions): use our dedicated removal process at Remove an Image of You Shared Without Consent. Qualifying content is removed within 48 hours of a valid request, in accordance with the federal TAKE IT DOWN Act.
For all other content you believe violates this policy, use the in-app Report button on the character or story, or contact us:
- Email: [email protected]
- Include as much detail as possible: account name, approximate time, and a description of the content
- All reports are reviewed confidentially
- We do not retaliate against users who report concerns in good faith
10. Policy Updates
This Content & Safety Policy may be updated periodically. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
